HCPS Survey - Please complete!

Each year, Henrico County Public Schools surveys families, staff members and students about their experiences in their school and within the school division. Your input is important to help us identify what we are doing well and what we can do better.

The survey window is open! We want each family to complete the survey so your voice can be heard. You can also complete the survey directly by going to the Surveys page on the HCPS website.

Students in grades 3-12 will have the opportunity to complete a student version of the survey during the school day. Pocahontas students will complete the survey on Monday, March 23rd during Advisory!

If you don’t wish for your student in grades 3-12 to participate in the survey, please contact our main office.

When you complete the survey online, you can choose to enter a drawing for prizes! At the end of the survey, parents can enter their contact information to be entered in a prize drawing. At least one family from each magisterial district will be randomly selected for a prize bag from the HCPS Division of Family and Community Engagement.

Thank you in advance for completing the survey and for your continued support of our school!

Join Us - Middle School Matters Panel

We had a great turnout for our Middle School Matters Panel on Tuesday evening! Our panel shared insightful, meaningful steps parents/guardians can take to support their students.

Copies of Phyllis Fagell's book, Middle School

Matters, have been ordered for our first 25 registered guests who attended. We will reach out to these participants once the books arrive.

Thank you again to our entire community for all of your support! We look forward to future events!

Technology Reminders

We are always talking with students about what it means to be a good digital citizen. While students have access to HCPS-issued laptops, the technology is meant to be used for instructional purposes ONLY.

Please remind your student:

  • Students should not spam other students and/or staff. This means they should not be creating documents, presentations, and/or emails to share with mass amounts of people.

  • AI should ONLY be used if a teacher gives explicit direction for its usage on an assignment and/or project. Unauthorized use of AI will result in a code of conduct violation and will impact a student's grade on the assignment.

  • Social media interactions should be respectful and kind. If a post causes a disruption at school, the code of conduct can be enacted

  • Students should handle their devices (laptop and charger) with care. Damaging the computer is against the Acceptable Use Policy.

  • Students are reminded to only visit authorized websites and/or content. Using proxies to bypass the HCPS security settings is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.

Thank you for reviewing these expectations with your student!

Hawk Huddle Weather Information

Hawk Huddle does not occur when the weather does not allow for it. Students remain indoors when:

  • It is actively raining and/or snowing

  • Recent rain/snow has left the outside area too wet and/or muddy for activities

  • Temperatures are below 40 degrees
