Spring school pictures will take place on Thursday morning, February 19th. Only students who have prepaid for a spring picture or who have cash/check with them on the 19th will participate in spring pictures.

We want to know what you think!
HCPS will launch its annual survey on March 2, and we hope everyone will take a few minutes to complete the short questionnaire that helps us know how we’re doing and what we can do better.
Feedback from families, students and staff members helps us measure progress on our goals. Your answers can also lead to real changes, like expanded access to student programs and revamped class units. To view a preview of student surveys, which will be completed at school, visit henricoschools.us/page/annual-schools-survey.
If you do not want your student (grades 3-12) to participate in the survey, please opt out by Feb. 27 by directly contacting us. We look forward to hearing your thoughts! AND: As an incentive for completing the survey, you could help us win $500 if our school has the highest family participation rate in our magisterial district!
Ramadan - Alternative Lunch Location Option and Form |
We are nearing the beginning of Ramadan. If your child would like to spend their lunch period in a location other than the cafeteria during Ramadan, please fill out this form. With this information, we will plan for students needing an alternative location during their lunch period. Please complete the form by Monday, February 16th.

Lost and Found Pick-Up |
Is your student missing a piece of clothing or lunch box?!? Please remind your student to stop by the lost and found bins outside the cafeteria to check for missing jackets, sweatshirts, hats, waterbottles, and/or lunch boxes.
We encourage all students to write their name on their lunchboxes and waterbottles so they can be easily returned to the owner.
At the end of each month, lost and found items will be donated.
8th Grade Field Trip Details - Rescheduled |
The 8th grade field trip to the Air and Space Museum has been rescheduled for Friday, February 27th.
🚌 Departure: We will leave Pocahontas at 9:00 AM
🕓 Return: We will return to Pocahontas at approximately 4:00 PM
If you signed up to chaperone and are no longer able to attend on the new date, please let me know as soon as possible so we can adjust our plans.
At this time, we are no longer accepting additional permission forms or payments, as we have reached full capacity for our buses. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Using Advisory Time Wisely |
Students attend Advisory every day from 8:35 - 9:05. In that time, all Advisories listen to morning announcements. It is important students listen to PA announcements and Hox news, so they are aware of school happenings.
Then, during Advisory, if a student is not called to work with a specific teacher and/or school club/event, they should complete the following activities:
Mondays - Math Monday - IXL
Tuesday - Study Hall - Check grades, complete missing or upcoming assignments, study for upcoming quizzes or tests, review prior learning, etc.
Wednesdays - Silent Reading, Lexia, or literacy practice (reading/writing)
Thursdays - Study Hall - Check grades, complete missing or upcoming assignments, study for upcoming quizzes or tests, review prior learning, etc.
Fridays - Clubs/Meetings/Study Hall - Check grades, complete missing or upcoming assignments, study for upcoming quizzes or tests, review prior learning, etc.
Please remind your student that Advisory is designed to work on tasks that support their academic progress. Gaming should not be occurring.
Pocahontas Comprehensive Safety Audit |
In accordance with state and HCPS regulations, our school underwent a comprehensive safety audit on Tuesday, February 10th. Full comprehensive audits occur every three years.
The audit includes examination of our adherence to safety policies and protocols, the culture and climate of our school, our preparedness for crises, and much more. The visit includes a study of our school grounds and facilities, clinic and cafeteria practices, school counseling efforts, digital citizenship education, student behavior support, SSO and SRO practices, and much more. Thank you to the students, staff, and families who participated in interviews with the safety team!
Our audit was a success. We received several commendations. The team's feedback will strengthen our safety efforts.

Gymnastics Pictures |
Strawbridge will be at Pocahontas to take gymnastics pictures on Thursday, February 26th. The coaches will provide athletes with their picture ordering information.
