YAYWORTHY:

Nominator Michelle Sheehan said,

"Mrs. Rogers deserves a 'Yay of the Day' because she is an outstanding educator who consistently goes above and beyond for her students. She has made a meaningful difference in my daughter’s life by encouraging her to advocate for herself and believe in her own abilities. Mrs. Rogers creates a classroom environment where students feel valued, supported and empowered to grow — not just academically, but personally as well. Her dedication, warmth and commitment to her students are evident in everything she does. Whether it’s providing extra help, offering words of encouragement or simply showing up every day with a positive attitude, Mrs. Rogers is a shining example of what it means to be an educator who truly cares. She is a gift to Pocahontas Middle School and we are so grateful for the passion, professionalism and heart she brings to the school community. We love her and can’t thank her enough for the lasting impact she’s had on our daughter.

"When she noticed that my daughter was struggling to speak up for herself in class. Instead of letting it slide, Mrs. Rogers took the time to check in with her privately, encourage her and give her tools to build confidence. She gently pushed her to advocate for herself — whether that meant asking questions, seeking help, or sharing her thoughts in discussions. This support is not only helping my daughter grow academically, but it is also having a lasting impact on her self-esteem. It’s clear that Mrs. Rogers sees and supports the whole child, not just the student."

Thank you for all you do, Susan Rogers, to make a positive difference and move HCPS forward!
